1980s Huffy Pro Thunder

I didn’t learn how to ride a bicycle until I was about 7 years old, but once I learned I spent a lot of my youth on them. Started with a Huffy Pro Thunder and put so many miles on it with my friends on Cape Cod. It was super heavy, but I rode it hard and tried to jump it a little.

Mid 1980s redline 500a

A few years later, I got my first “real” bike, a Redline 500a. I started reading bike magazines and absorbing everything I could about them. I learned the advantages of chromoly and having a lighter, stronger bike. It became an obsession, but I never actually tried BMX racing. Another sport was growing in the 1980s, and I went that route instead. I begged my parents to get me a suitable bike, which lead to my Redline RL20 in magenta!
